REST IN PEACE BISHOP KORIR- ELDORET DIOCESE MOURN THEIR SHEPHERD

“We have lost a brave ,truthful and just Bishop on behalf of myself and the Diocese of Nakuru we condole with the priests and christians of Eldoret Diocese”.Those are the words of Bishop Maurice Muhatia in his condolence message.Bishop korir served as a priest in the Diocese of Nakuru before   kericho was separated.In his meaage bishop Muhatia also added “we the Christians  of Nakuru join with the Christians of Eldoret as they mourn their shepherd.we pray that he may rest in peace. Bishop korir  has been involved in issues of peace and justice.we will miss his role as the chair of  Catholic Peace and Justice(CJPC) at the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishop (KCCB)

According to Fr Sospeter Kangogo from Eldoret the death of their Bishop has come as a great shock.he extends his sympathy to the priests,religious and laity of Eldoret Diocese.Asked about what he could say of the Bishop he said “We will miss him greatly because he loved and united people he was an  ambassador of peace”.


NJORO DEANERY -GOLDEN JUBILEE MASS

Njoro Deanery Golden Jubilee mass was held at Mary Mother of God Parish -Rongai. The Deanery consists of Seven Parishes namely St Charles Lwanga Parish,St Francis Lare,St Augustine,St peters,Holy Family,St Joseph Larmudiac and Mary Mother of God Parish.

The celebrant was Bishop  Maurice Muhatia assisted by the priests of the Deanery.The event started with adoration followed by mass.In his homily the Bishop reminded the Christians on the need for peaceful coexistence especially at this political time.He encouraged them to avoid negative ethnicity and stay united.He also reminded them to pray for our country and to ask our Lady to intercede for the Diocese and Country.


CDN CHOIRS -GOLDEN JUBILEE MASS

Choir members from the Deaneries in the Diocese attended mass on 28th October 2017 at the Cathedral Church of Christ the King.This is part of the various activities this year aimed at enabling all the groups in the church to celebrated the Golden Jubilee.

The celebrant was Rt Rev Maurice Muhatia assisted by Very REV Fr Mbogo and Fr Kogo.in his homily the bishop caution the members to be agents of peace and love and to avoid spreading hate speech especially through social media.He encouraged them to quit  whats up or Facebook groups that spread propaganda especially on negative ethnicity.

by requesting for the song “simama imara katika imani usiogope” which means stand firm in faith do not be afraid.His Lordship encouraged the choir members to pray for the country especially at this political period.At the end of mass the song bind us together Lord reminded the members present to stay united.

MOLO DEANERY MASS

As part of the Golden Jubilee activities molo Deanery mass was held on the 22nd of October 2017.The colorful event took place at st Marys Molo Parish.the celebrant was Rt Rev Maurice Muhatia assisted by the priests from the Deanery.

in his homily the bishop insisted on Peaceful co-existence among the people in the deanery and of course the Diocese of Nakuru especially at this political period in the country.


KCCB NATIONAL PRAYER DAY FOR PEACE

THEME: PEACE IN THE FAMILY,PEACE IN OUR COUNTRY AND HOPE IN OUR YOUTH.

On 7th october 2017 the annual National prayer day  took place at the National Marian Shrine i Subukia.The mass was animated by  Kisumu Metropolitan which comprise of Eight Dioceses. The main celebrant was Arch -Bishop Zachaeus Okoth assisted by other bishops.Also present was the President and the Vice President among other dignitaries.The priest,religious and laity from various dioceses in Kenya also adorned the celebration.

in his homily the Arch bishop encouraged kenyans to live together in peace and harmony ”standing on these holy grounds of our National Marian shrine,we pray for our families so that in the family of Nazareth where Jesus grew up our families too may be cradle where peace is brewed and served to all members”.He also entrusted the country to our lady of peace especially as we move closer to the repeat of presidential elections.


THANKSGIVING MASS FOR DISCIPLINED FORCES AND THEIR FAMILY

The annual thanksgiving mass for the disciplined forces and their families took place on 30th september 2017 at christ the king cathedral nakuru.The mass was officiated by Rt Rev Salesius Mugambi -Bishop of Meru.This years theme was “Put your trust in the Lord”(Psalms 118:18)
