On 7th september during the Diocesan Family day Rt Rev Maurice Muhatia Bishop of Nakuru Eulogized the late Fr Conor Molony a priest of St Patricks Missionary society. Informing the faithful of the demise of the priest ,the prelate said that the Late Fr Molony was a hardworking priest who was dedicated to the service of the People of God to the end of his life.He informed all people present to pray for his soul that he may rest in eternal peace.
Fr Conor was born in Holycross, Co Tipperary. He entered St Patrick’s Missionary Society in 1955 and was ordained in April 1962. He was appointed to the Diocese of Eldoret, Kenya, where he would spend most of his priestly life. His first mission was in Lodwar. He then worked in Holy Rosary Parish, Nakuru, before being transferred to Matunda Parish outside Eldoret. In the mid 1970s he was appointed to Longonot and later he worked in Holy Cross Parish in Nakuru West. From 1988 to 1993 Conor was part of the Society’s promotion team in the United States. He returned to Kenya in 1993 and spent the remainder of his life around St Michael’s Parish, Kiamaina, in the Diocese of Nakuru. While on home leave in late August, Conor was taken ill and admitted to Naas General Hospital where he died on the 5th of September.
Late Fr Conor was a great pastoral man and a gatherer of people. He developed warm and lasting friendships with many people throughout his life. He was noted for his hospitality, his kindness, his generosity and his warmth. Our sincere sympathy to Fr Conor’s family, to his many friends in Ireland and Kenya and to his parishioners in Kiamaina.
