The Diocese of Nakuru celebrated it’s family day on 7th September at Christ the King Academy.The main Celebrant was His Eminence John Cardinal Njue assisted by Rt Rev Maurice Makumba (Nakuru),Most Rev Antony Muheria Arch Bishop of Nyeri and Apostolic Administrator of Kitui, Rt Rev John Oballa owaa(Ngong) and Very Rev Fr. Benjamin Kituto Maswili – Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate.
In his homily Bishop Muhatia noted that the diocese has dedicated this year to praying for vocations .He reminded the Christians on the importance of the various vocations in the church.He encouraged the young people to celebrate the sacrament of matrimony in the church.He also reminded those who had not done their wedding and therefore missing to receive the Eucharist to consider wedding in church .He Encouraged the faithful to consider simple weddings which will not incur much cost.
Referring to the call of Prophet Jeremiah the Bishop told the parents to allow young people to serve the Lord as Priests,Brothers and sisters stating that every vocation has a special place in the church.
The Bishop recognized the Late Fr Conor Molony (SPS) for the service he gave to the Diocese of Nakuru. Until his death he was serving at St Michael’s Kiamaina Parish.
